1940 Census Presentation to the BCGS in February

The next Butler County Genealogy Society meeting will be held Thursday, February 23, 2012, at 2 PM in the (Snider) Activity Room at the Twin Towers. 

TOPIC:  Preparing for the release of the 1940 Census on April 2nd.
PRESENTER:  Me!!  Ummmm, I mean, Shon Griffin, Genealogy, Reference, and Interlibrary Loan Librarian of the Poplar Bluff Public Library.

Spread the word and invite a friend.  The Society members welcome new attendees, whether you're just starting out or have been climbing that family tree for years!  You might just meet a long-lost cousin there.

Reminder:  The Butler County Genealogy Society will meet Thursday, January 26, 2012, at the Twin Towers in the Activity Room.  This is a great way to network locally with fellow genealogists whether you are newly interested in the subject or an old-timer that performed searches for records in the pre-Internet world.

New item added to Genealogy Collection

I'm happy to announce the addition of a local history book regarding the Civil War in Missouri which was originally published in 1996. "The 9th Missouri Infantry Regiment, C.S.A. and the 12th Missouri Regiment, C.S.A." by Jerry Ponder.  It is located on the Missouri Shelves in the Genealogy/Reference area with the call number of G-R 929.3778 PONDER.
